🏍️ Which categories are part of the motorbike test?

Depending on the type of motorbike you want to ride, different categories are relevant. The theory is usually the basic theory, while the further steps (learner's permit, training, practice) differ.

Cat. A1

  • Entry-level / light motorbike category (e.g. 125 cc).
  • Typical entry point – depending on age and requirements.

Cat. A

  • For more powerful motorbikes (depending on the version/limitation).
  • Direct entry or progression after A1 – depending on the requirements.

Tip: if you are unsure which category you need, use the page The way to your driving licence – there you'll find the official classification and the right steps.

📝 Test format (theory)

The motorbike theory is set up as a multiple-choice test. Typical framework: 50 questions, 45 minutes and a maximum of 15 error points. A single question can carry up to 3 error points.

How to pass with confidence: practise real test questions regularly, consistently revise right of way/signs and the other topics, and do several complete run-throughs.
